Recreation Overview:

The South County Soccer Club (SCSC) recreation soccer program offers children the opportunity to participate in soccer from ages U5 – U15. The recreation program is divided into two levels. We have our grassroots program for players aged 4 – 7 (U5 – U8) who will participate in an internal soccer league. For our older players aged 9 – 14 (U9 – U15) will play on the SCSC REC team, which will participate in area recreational leagues.

Grassroots Program

The Grassroots Program is our internal intramural soccer development program with three divisions. (U6 Program - COED, U8 Program - Girls/Boys and COED, & County Program - COED, Girls/Boys) All teams will play 6 regular season games for fun (no score is kept). All teams will play in an end of season double elimination tournament. The Fall season will begin the 1st Saturday after Labor Day and continue for the next 7 Saturdays (No games Columbus day weekend). The end of season tournament will be played during the last weekend of October. The Spring season begins the 2nd Saturday in April and continues until the end of May (Six games no games during Easter or Memorial Day weekend). The end of season tournament will be played during the first weekend of June.

U6 Program (COED)

The U6 program teams are coed and will play 4v4 (no goalkeepers) with a maximum roster size of 8 players. There are no referees in these age groups and the games will be facilitated by the coaches and parent volunteers. The duration of the game is a total of 32 minutes with the kids playing 8 minute quarters. At times, there will not be even numbers as we cannot always roster 8 players on each team.  Furthermore, all players do not always show up every Saturday for the games. This is okay.   You may see games that are played 2v2 and 3v2.  This is okay as all the players will be playing and participating.  The results of these games are of no consequence.  The ultimate goal is to get kids playing and get them a lot of touches on the ball.

U8 Program (Girls & Boys)

The U8 program teams are coed and will play 5v5 (w/ goalkeepers) with a maximum roster size of 10 players. There are no referees in these age groups and the games will be facilitated by the coaches and parent volunteers. The duration of the game is a total of 40 minutes with the kids playing 20 minute halves. At times, there will not be even numbers as we cannot always roster 10 players on each team.  Furthermore, all players do not always show up every Saturday for the games. This is okay.   You may see games that are played 4v4 and 5v4.  This is okay as all the players will be playing and participating.  The results of these games are of no consequence.  The ultimate goal is to get kids playing and get them a lot of touches on the ball.

County Program (COED, Girls & Boys)

The county program is for boys and girls aged 9 – 14 (U9 – U14). The teams will compete in local recreation leagues. Teams will be coached by parent volunteers who have undergone a background check and successfully completed a coaching course.
